osCommerce may print this message at the top of your website. The rest of the message includes the path to your config.php file:
/home/yourusername/public_html/path/to/configure.php
and warns: This is a potential security risk - please set the right user permissions on this file.
To get rid of this message, simply chmod the config file to 444.
- To do that, log into cpanel, click on file manager, and click on your public_html folder.
- Browse to your os commerce directory, if needed.
- Open the includes directory, and click on config.php.
- In the upper right, you can choose "Change Permissions" .
- Leave checks only in the top three boxes, and the numbers below should say 444.
- Apply your changes.
Refresh your site, and the message will be gone.
Make sure your admin directory is secure now, and you should be good to go.
